Twice as nice! Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are engaged again
Los Angeles, California – Let's get loud: Bennifer is headed to the altar once again!
Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are engaged, twenty years after their engagement the first time around.
JLo confirmed the news through her On the JLo newsletter to fans late on Friday, and added a diamond ring emoji to her Twitter handle.
"So I have a really exciting and special story to share," Lopez said in a social media video, directing followers to sign up for emails to get the full scoop.
Fans then get to see the star admiring a huge green ring featuring two smaller diamonds on the side.
"You're perfect," Jennifer says with tears in her eyes.
Ben and Jen met on the set of their film Gigli in 2001 and began dating in July 2002, becoming one of the most high-profile couples in Hollywood. In November of that year, Ben proposed with a 6.1-carat pink diamond ring, yet the two postponed their wedding days before the November 2003 ceremony and called it quits in January 2004.
The pair rekindled their romance in May 2021, when they were spotted together soon after JLo's broken engagement and five-year relationship with baseball player Alex Rodriguez. Bennifer made things Instagram official in July and had their first red carpet appearance together after nearly two decades in September.
This is Jennifer's sixth engagement
This is Jennifer's sixth engagement overall. She was previously married to restaurateur Ojani Noa, backup dancer Cris Judd, and singer Marc Anthony, with whom she shares 14-year-old twins Emme and Max.
Ben married actor Jennifer Garner in 2005 and the two separated in 2015 after welcoming three kids, Violet (16), Seraphina (13), and Samuel (10). Their divorce was finalized in 2018, which Ben has admitted was largely due to his struggles with alcohol.
The actor-director said in a 2008 interview with British TV series Live that he felt his relationship with JLo being so prominently in the public eye caused Bennifer's downfall.
"I think Jen and I made a mistake in that we fell in love, we were excited, and maybe too accessible," he recalled. "I don't think either of us anticipated the degree to which it would take on a world of its own."
Jenny From The Block met Ben while she was still married to Cris Judd, but later said of meeting the Batman star: "I felt like … 'Okay, this is it.'"
Here's hoping the second time's the charm.
