The Addams Family-based series has been a massive success for Netflix, and its 20-year-old leading lady may be more responsible for its success than one might think.

From crushing the now-viral dance scene while suffering from Covid-19 to learning how to play the cello and speak German, it seemed there was nothing Ortega wouldn't do to prepare for her role.

In a new interview, the Scream star revealed that she even played a role in improving some of the show's more cringe-worthy dialogue.

A TikTok shared by @dannyrayes shows Ortega discussing a time when sh urged the Wednesday writers to have one particular line cut from the script.

"I remember there was a line where I'm talking about a dress, and she initially was supposed to say, 'Oh my god, I'm freaking out over a dress. I literally hate myself,'" Ortega said.

The actor didn't feel that it was the right fit for the character and asked the writers to have it cut from the episode.

Thankfully, Ortega got her way, and the line doesn't appear in the scene from the show's fourth episode.

The actor also revealed this wasn't the only instance she ran into issues with the dialogue, which led the writers to change some parts of the script while filming.

"I was blown away because that sounded like… it was just a bunch of little things like that," she said. "Where I felt like we were able to avoid a lot of dialogue in an attempt to make her sound human."

Wednesday fans praised the actor in the comments section of the TikTok for calling out the line. Some even claimed that her intervention "saved the show."

"Gotta give credits to actors who know their characters better than the writers sometimes," one user commented.

Though Ortega's performance has been consistently praised, many criticized Wednesday's writing, so learning that it was almost worse came as a bit of a shock to fans.

"respectfully the dialogue in this show needs help," one fan commented.

Here's hoping a potential season two will have even more input from Ortega!
