Jenna Ortega reveals the brutal reality of filming Wednesday
Los Angeles, California - Jenna Ortega's performance on the hit TV show Wednesday may have earned her critical acclaim, but it was certainly no walk in the park for the young star.
The 20-year-old's dedication to her leading role knew no bounds as she managed to learn how to fence, play the cello, and speak German for the job.
Her work certainly paid off, as she earned nominations at the Golden Globes and the Screen Actors Guild Awards for the role.
But behind the scenes, the effort was seriously grueling.
Ortega spilled the tea about what life was really like on the set of the Netflix series during a panel on Thursday.
"I did not get any sleep. I pulled my hair out," she admitted. "There's so many FaceTime calls that my dad answered of me hysterically crying."
In addition to the usual time commitment of filming, the lessons required for all the impressive skills she learned for the role also took a serious toll on her.
"It was just constantly going, and if you could on a weekend, if we weren't shooting the sixth day that week, it was, 'All right, well then, we'll get your lessons in on that day," the Scream star said.
Ortega took many fans by surprise back in December when she revealed that she was suffering from Covid-19 symptoms while filming the show's viral deadpan dance scene.
That story sparked concerns for many fans about Ortega's well-being amid her taxing work demands, and her latest comments just might prove them right.
