James Franco makes career comeback attempt after sexual misconduct allegations
Los Angeles, California - James Franco has confirmed his return to the big screen following a four-year absence after being accused of sexual misconduct.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Franco is reviving his acting career after a four-year hiatus.
Though the controversial actor has appeared in some projects, including a brief appearance in the 2019 movie Arctic Dogs and HBO's The Deuce, this will be the first big role for Franco in some time.
In a statement to the outlet, the 44-year-old star, who was accused of sexual misconduct by several women, revealed that he has been cast as a fisherman in Bille August's coming-of-age period drama Me, You.
Additionally, the Spider-Man star will also appear in the upcoming action film Mace.
James Franco's return to the big screen after disgraceful accusation
Regarding his role in August's film, Franco shared, "I am excited to board this phenomenal project and to be working with the legendary Bille August."
He continued: "I'm a huge fan of his work, and Me, You is a truly brilliant script."
Franco's fall from grace came in 2018 when he was accused of inappropriate sexual behavior by five women, four of whom were his acting students, in an article published by the Los Angeles Times.
One of his alleged victims, Sarah Tither-Kaplan, told Good Morning America in an interview that Franco "abused his power by exploiting the non-famous women that he worked with under the guise of giving them opportunities."
While he denied the claims of misconduct, Franco did admit to sleeping to students and partly blamed it on a past sex addiction.
The scandal affected his relationship with former frequent collaborator Seth Rogen, who has since distanced himself from Franco.
