Jada Pinkett-Smith honors Tupac's 50th birthday with never-before-seen tribute
Calabasas, California - Jada Pinkett-Smith honored her late friend, rapper Tupac Shakur, on what would have been his 50th birthday.
Friends till the very end.
On Tuesday, Jada revealed a never-before-seen poem written by Tupac.
The Red Table Talk host shared the intimate hand-written piece on her Instagram, titled Lost Soulz.
The poem was apparently one of the many letters the late hip-hop artist sent to the Madasgacar star.
"I don't think this one has ever been published," she said in her video clip. "I don't think he would have minded that I shared this with you guys," she said before proceeding to recite the verse.
Tupac was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting at the age of 25, almost 25 years ago. He would have turned 50 on Wednesday.
Jada has been very vocal about the close relationship she had with the Poetic Justice actor, which began when the two were in high school.
Many fans said they had "goosebumps" when listening to her reading.
"His prescence is surely missed, but his words live on," one commented.
Jada has helped to further immortalize Tupac's memory
Jada has been married to actor Will Smith since 1997. Together they are parents to Jaden and Willow.
She is also the stepmother of Trey Smith, Will's son from a previous marriage.
Her moving gesture to memorialize Tupac has inspired more tributes to the rapper in her Instagram comments, on what would have been a milestone birthday.
"This is beautiful!" a fan wrote of her posting. "He was the greatest rapper of all time, a brilliant mind, a Gemini, the most talented, realest soul."
"May his memory live on forever," another said. "It is a gift."
A birthday gift, indeed.
