Is Caitlyn Jenner getting competition for the California governor's position from this actor?
Los Angeles, California - Randy Quaid has revealed that he is "seriously considering" running for governor of California. The actor shared his thoughts on Twitter leading to mixed reactions from social media.
The Independence Day star tweeted the "prosecutorial corruption" in California is the reason why he's contemplating running for political office.
Twitter users wasted no time in sharing their thoughts on the matter. While some seemed to encourage the actor to pursue this new career choice, others took jabs at Quaid and referred to his character "Cousin Eddie" from the National Lampoon's Vacation movie series.
Quaid has been very vocal about his political views and was an outspoken supporter of former President Donald Trump. The actor also publicly denounced President Joe Biden and said he wasn't "qualified" to run the country. Should the actor decide to follow through, he'll be the second celebrity to announce a bid for the governor's seat.
Caitlyn Jenner announced earlier this week her plans to run in the recall election against Governor Gavin Newsom. For years, several celebrities have attempted to dip their toe in politics, and a few have actually succeeded.
Quaid has also suffered from some legal issues in the past. The younger brother of Dennis Quaid was arrested in 2009 on charges of fraud and was charged with burglary in 2010.
He has lived away from California for over a decade and at one point even filed for asylum in Canada to escape being prosecuted for various alleged crimes.
