Hollywood reacts to rock veteran Jeff Beck's untimely passing

London, UK - Rock veteran Jeff Beck has died, his family announced on Wednesday evening, and Hollywood's finest are showing an outpouring of love on social media.

The Grammy-winning guitarist rose to prominence with rock band The Yardbirds and went on to have a successful solo career and fronted the Jeff Beck Group and Beck, Bogert & Appice. Beck was 78.

A statement posted to Twitter and Instagram read: "On behalf of his family, it is with deep and profound sadness that we share the news of Jeff Beck's passing.

"After suddenly contracting bacterial meningitis, he peacefully passed away yesterday.

"His family ask for privacy while they process this tremendous loss."

Following the news of the eight-time Grammy winner's passing, many took to social media to share their condolences and speak of Beck's impact on music.

The Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger shared his thoughts on Twitter: "With the death of Jeff Beck we have lost a wonderful man and one of the greatest guitar players in the world. We will all miss him so much."

Emmy-winning PR executive Danny Deraney wrote, "Jeff Beck was a god to many (myself included) and one of the most iconic guitarists of our lifetime."

Comedian Bill Burr tweeted, "Rest in peace to the GREATEST [of] them all: Jeff Beck!!!!"

In 2022, Beck released an album with actor Johnny Depp, a surprise project the rocker announced one month prior to its release during one of his shows in Gateshead, UK.

RIP to the rock legend.
