Here's why Finn Wolfhard snapping is all over your TikTok FYP
Culver City, California - Another day, another TikTok trend! This time around, Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard has unexpectedly found himself as the face of the app's latest craze.
A clip of the 20-year-old actor snapping now serves as the focal point of this TikTok template trend.
This new craze involves creators using the green-screen background behind Wolfhard to showcase images of their choice. When he snaps, the image changes.
The trend has been used to document everything from changes in music tastes and makeup styles to embarrassing behaviors.
The videos are accompanied by a remix of Give It to Me by Timbaland, which earned fame as a trending sound used with TikTok's Zoolander memes last month.
Over on BookTok, one creator used the trending format to poke fun at their habit of changing their Goodreads rating for a book the day after reading it.
Even branded accounts got in on the fun. Movie review site letterboxd used the meme to transition from "picking something to watch from my watchlist" to "rewatching my favorite movie for the 1,000th time."
Social media users took to Twitter to express their appreciation – and annoyance – and the seemingly omnipresent trend.
"these tiktoks of finn wolfhard snapping his fingers have me dying laughing for no reason," one user tweeted.
"my entire fyp is the template of finn wolfhard snapping and i don’t understand why," another said.
It seems that the Stranger Things kids are certainly no strangers to TikTok, as Wolfhard's costar Noah Schnapp went viral on the app earlier this month with his coming-out video.
