Harrison Ford is in the MCU as Thunderbolt rumors confirmed!
Los Angeles, California - It's official! Harrison Ford is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe, replacing the late William Hurt as Thaddeus "Thunderbolt" Ross, per The Hollywood Reporter.
After significant fan speculation, it appears that the rumors were true after all. The Star Wars and Indiana Jones star will debut in the role in the 2024 film Captain America: New World Order.
The film will serve as a follow-up to the Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which saw Sam Wilson adopt the mantle of Captain America.
Thunderbolt Ross debuted in the MCU with 2008's The Incredible Hulk. Hurt reprised the role in four other MCU films before he passed earlier this year.
Fan chatter surrounding the recasting of his role picked up significantly after the 2024 Thunderbolts movie was announced at San Diego Comic-Con. Ross is the leader of the titular anti-hero team in the comics, so many predicted that the role would be recast for the film.
Despite the confirmation of his appearance in Captain America 4, nothing has been announced for Thunderbolts just yet.
But since it seems pretty unlikely that the character would be excluded from his own team's film, fans are safe to get their hopes up.
