Elon Musk takes Twitter trolling to despicable heights with "#StayWoke" video

San Francisco, California - Elon Musk is once again making waves on Twitter for the wrong reasons after posting a video where the Billionaire seems to mock an antiracist initiative.

Given how much of a train wreck Musk's Twitter takeover has proven to be thus far, it's not entirely surprising to see the world's richest man continue to ruffle some feathers in all the wrong ways.

On Tuesday night, Musk posted a video on Twitter that was captioned, "Found in closet at Twitter HQ fr," followed by two laughing emojis. In the clip, a closet is shown that's full of T-shirts that read "#StayWoke."

The shirts became available for purchase in April 2016, and were made by Twitter Blackbirds, the social media company's employee resource group for African-Americans, in efforts to "support and promote diversity," and "create a more inclusive work environment."

Per the Daily Beast, Musk's initial Twitter thread also included a since-deleted tweet where he said the shirts "stem from the Ferguson protests,” in reference to demonstrations held in Missouri after white police officer Darren Wilson shot and killed a Black teenager named Michael Brown in 2014.

"Obama’s own [Department of Justice] proved this [and] exonerated the cop. 'Hands up don’t shoot' was made up. The whole thing was a fiction," the post reportedly read before Musk deleted this specific tweet and replaced it with a link to the Justice Department's 2015 report looking into Brown's death.

Though the DOJ concluded that Wilson shot Brown in self-defense, they also critiqued law enforcement's handling of the protests that took place in the wake of the shooting.

While the usual Musk stans flocked to the replies to voice their odd adoration for the SpaceX founder, others expressed their distaste at his mockery.

Twitter users react to Elon Musk's "#StayWoke" video

One Twitter user wrote, "You must love losing prospective Tesla customers. I am woke. I drive a PHEV and have more than enough $$ to buy a Tesla auto or home electrical system. But I won’t because I won’t send my hard-earned $$ to a company run by a guy who disparages people who care about other people."

Another user replied in defense of the term "woke": "Elon realizes that the right-wing has a big audience - he is playing heavily to that audience. Woke is a good and positive thing. It means being aware of other people and respecting differences - right-wing twists it into something else. That's sad."

Media personality Ciku Muiruri tweeted a similar sentiment in Musk's replies: "The meaning of WOKE is aware of & actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice). I'm confused as to why this is humorous to you. It's admirable. Be careful Elon, you are one tweet away from flying out of your 666 closet."

According to Merriam-Webster, "woke" is defined as being "aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues, especially issues of racial and social justice."
