Elon Musk shares internal Twitter secrets while targeting Democrats
San Francisco, California - Elon Musk has launched another attack on Democrats by sharing tweets about alleged internal Twitter documents regarding the controversy surrounding a specific news article that was published shortly before the 2020 presidential election.
The New York Post article included an email from President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden, in connection with his foreign business dealings. "What really happened with the Hunter Biden story suppression by Twitter will be published on Twitter!", Musk wrote.
Twitter at the time blocked the article and the newspaper's account because the report allegedly violated rules prohibiting the dissemination of information obtained through illegal hacks.
Twitter's former CEO Jack Dorsey later acknowledged that the platform's action against the New York Post had been a mistake, and Twitter subsequently changed its rules.
Musk shared a series of tweets by journalist Matt Taibbi, which showed, among other things, in several screenshots of internal communications that there was also controversy within the company over the blocking of the New York Post article.
Taibbi also wanted to prove an alleged influence of the Democrats on the platform.
Elon Musk sides with Republicans
Hunter's foreign business dealings had already made headlines in the past and gave Republicans something to call out in efforts to sway public opinion ahead of the 2020 election, which President Biden won.
For example, business dealings in Ukraine raised questions: Hunter Biden held a lucrative post on the supervisory board of Ukrainian gas company Burisma between 2014 and 2019, part of which occurred while Joe Biden was the vice president with lead responsibility for Ukraine.
Musk announced further disclosures after the Tesla CEO finalized the deal to buy Twitter in late October for $44 billion, and heavily campaigned for Republicans on the platform ahead of the November midterm elections.
A few weeks back, Musk even made the controversial decision to reinstate former President Donald Trump's Twitter account.
