Bye, Twitter! Gigi Hadid, Whoopi Goldberg, and others dip out amid Elon Musk's takeover
Los Angeles, California - From Gigi Hadid to Whoopi Goldberg, here are the few celebrities who have said "see ya later" to Twitter following Elon Musk's takeover of the social media platform.
On October 28, a day many never thought they'd see came after the Tesla executive successfully closed his $44 billion buyout bid, naming him the new owner of Twitter.
The billionaire commemorated his first day as the app's head honcho by massively cleaning house and claiming that everyone who was fired was offered three months of severance pay.
But he didn't stop there.
On Tuesday, the SpaceX founder tweeted out dangerous political advice ahead of the midterms urging users to vote "for a Republican Congress."
In lieu of this, a few stars have decided that the platform isn't for them amid Musk's alarming changes and utter presence on the platform.
Here are a couple of celebs who have chucked up them deuces to Twitter.
Gigi Hadid, Whoopi Goldberg, and more bid adieu to Twitter
On Monday, Hadid announced via her Instagram story that she deactivated her Twitter account, calling the app a "cesspool of hate & bigotry."
"For a long time, but especially with [the] new leadership, it's becoming more and more of a cesspool of hate & bigotry, and it's not a place I want to be a part of," the model wrote.
As for Goldberg, The View host announced on the show that she was "done" with the app and proceeded to deleted her profile, though she did note that she may return when and if she feels "comfortable."
Back in October, Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes tweeted that she wasn't "hanging around" for whatever the eccentric billionaire had planned.
"Bye," she ended the rant and has since been inactive on her page.
And lest we forget Musk's ex-girlfriend Amber Heard, who has been living a low-key life overseas, also recently and discreetly deactivated her page.
Again, these are just a few of the famous faces that have recently said "peace" to Twitter. To be honest, this is probably only the beginning.
