Elon Marx? Grimes drives TikTok wild with her dreams of AI communism
Los Angeles, California - Grimes' latest TikTok video has most people confused. In a rambling clip, she explained why communists should actually be in favor of artificial intelligence.
Nobody is ever sure what Grimes will post on social media, but whatever it is, it will probably cause an uproar. From tattoos to cosplay, she thrives on her posts being very different, creative, and mostly head-scratching.
Her latest effort is no exception, as she took to TikTok to share a somewhat incomprehensible string of ideas about artificial intelligence (AI) and communism.
The video quickly drew complaints that trying to follow her train of thought to any kind of understandable conclusion was exhausting.
In the clip, she muses over the possibility of AI becoming the fastest route to a type of communist utopia.
If AI can be advanced enough, she suggests, to the point that it fills all jobs in the world, everyone in the world could be comfortably provided for, and AI could be used to "weed out corruption."
Grimes thrives on being unique
The singer gives the entire speech while wearing cosplay jewelry, makeup, hair, and face paint. Grimes is known for her daring tattoos, so this video could also be an unveiling of new facial artwork.
After all the buzz, Grimes has offered some not-so-helpful clarification, saying that for two years her Instagram bio was "'I pledge allegiance to the robot overlords' (...) I ultimately probably believe in an AI dictatorship. I mean, I don't think humanity is going to survive anyway."
She said her thoughts are meant to be confusing and later tried to pass it all of as a joke in a comment. After all, her partner and the father of her child is billionaire Elon Musk, whose career has mostly proven that it's capitalism, not communism, that AI is most compatible with.
