Doja Cat drops out of The Weeknd's tour for alarming reason
Los Angeles, California – Doja Cat just dropped a bombshell on anyone who had tickets to see her on tour or at a music festival this summer.
If you're thinking the Kiss Me More singer is scrapping her touring responsibilities because she once said she was quitting music, fret not.
Though her future in the industry is solely up to her, Doja's decision to pull out of her summer touring responsibilities stems from her need to have tonsil surgery.
On Friday, the 26-year-old spilled the unfortunate tea on her Insta story, starting things off by saying she wanted her fans to hear the news from her first.
"Unfortunately I have to have surgery on my tonsils ASAP. The surgery is routine, but the recovery is going to take a while due to swelling," she wrote. "That means I have to cancel my festival run this summer as well as The Weeknd tour."
Doja was set to hit the road with The Weeknd for his After Hours Till Dawn tour, which is slated to run from July through September. The Grammy-winning singer was also poised to play at Hangout Festival in Alabama on Saturday, and Glastonbury Festival in the UK in June.
Doja affirmed that her absence is not permanent while also letting fans know she's got big plans for the future, writing, "I feel horrible about this but can’t wait for this to heal and get back to making music and create an experience for y’all."
We hope Doja has a speedy and complication-free recovery!
