Documentary set to explore Janet Jackson's Super Bowl "wardrobe malfunction"
Los Angeles, California - The documentary Framing Britney Spears brought to light how much the pop star suffered at the hands of those who wanted to use her fame to boost their own careers. Now the team who created it are going to explore Janet Jackson's similar fate.
The recent documentary highlighting just how much Britney Spears has suffered at the hands of the media, her family, and even her closest friends provided ample evidence as to just how much her voice has been drowned out by others set to make money at her expense.
Now word is out that the same production company who created Framing Britney Spears is developing a similar take on how superstar Janet Jackson's career was hijacked by the "wardrobe malfunction" scandal that rocked the 2004 Super Bowl.
Britney Spears and Janet Jackson: other than their clear status as A-listers and singers, isn't there another common denominator linking the two?
Oh yeah, 2000s favorite heartthrob, Justin Timberlake. But if the style of Britney's documentary is anything to go by, Timberlake's reputation is in for some rough treatment.
Is it enough that Justin apologized to the two women?
After the Britney Spears documentary aired, Timberlake issued an apology to her for his treatment of her nearly two decades ago.
At the time, he started a rumor that she had cheated on him, and using it to sell more copies of his song Cry Me a River.
Timberlake also reached out to apologize to Jackson for his role in orchestrating the "NippleGate" fiasco that effectively boosted his career, while harming hers.
He said, "I’ve seen the messages, tags, comments, and concerns [on social media] and I want to respond. I am deeply sorry for the times in my life where my actions contributed to the problem, where I spoke out of turn, or did not speak up for what was right," he wrote on Instagram. "I understand that I fell short in these moments and in many others and benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism."
Recently, there have been claims that Timberlake pulled the Super Bowl stunt 17 years ago just to outdo Britney, who months earlier had shared an on-stage triple kiss with Madonna and Christina Aguilera during the MTV Video Music Awards.
The new documentary is slated to interview everyone, from stylists and hairdressers on up, who were involved with the Super Bowl fiasco. Rumor has it that it will investigate the TV executives who were responsible for planning the 2004 Super Bowl Half Time Show and how they benefitted as well from "Nipple Gate".
It's not likely that Janet Jackson will be involved in the production, as she is actively working on her own two-part documentary set to premier next year.
