Did Justin Timberlake stage Janet Jackson's Superbowl wardrobe malfunction to outdo Britney?
New York, New York - The celeb stylist who dressed Janet Jackson for 2004's Super Bowl halftime show is spilling the tea about the "Nipplegate" scandal – and says Britney is to blame!
Wayne Scot Lukas, a longtime stylist to the stars, was backstage at the infamous 2004 Super Bowl halftime show and said that things went exactly according to plan.
"I wouldn’t call it a wardrobe 'malfunction' in a million years. It was the most functioning wardrobe in history. As a stylist, it did what it was intended to do," he dished in a new interview with Page Six.
Justin Timberlake's ex Britney Spears had just rocked the pop music world months earlier by sharing a sexy triple kiss with Madonna and Christina Aguilera during the MTV Video Music Awards.
Justin apparently refused to be outdone by his ex at his own Superbowl performance, so he and his team gave viewers a show they'd never forget.
Lukas said the initial plan for the halftime show had Janet in a pearl G-string thong that was set to be revealed when Justin "accidentally" stepped on the back of her dress.
"The outfit changed a couple of days before, and you saw the magic,” Lukas said of the last minute change that eventually exposed Janet's boob to a national TV audience.

Justin's positive portrayal in the media in comparison to Britney's harsh treatment after their break-up has recently resurfaced in a New York Times documentary about Spears that was released in February.
He has since issued an apology to both women about the actions of his past.
"[I] benefited from a system that condones misogyny and racism. I specifically want to apologize to Britney Spears and Janet Jackson both individually," he wrote on Instagram.
Britney hasn't responded to the apology directly, although she used an old photo of her and Justin this weekend to wish her sister a happy birthday.
Scot Lukas says he's set to release a tell-all book called Wardrobe Malfunctions: Receipts from the Front Lines and the Front Row, which will feature more juicy details about the Superbowl incident.
