"Deeply bruised" Chrissy Teigen deletes her Twitter account in dramatic exit!
Beverly Hills, California – The Twittersphere errupted after Chrissy Teigen announced on Wednesday that she was leaving the platform for good!
The model and entreprenuer has become known for her candid Twitter commentary.
But on Wednesday night, she admitted that internet bullies had influenced her decision to go offline after ten years on the platform.
She said that she is actually not "the strong clapback girl" that she evoked and that her time on Twitter taught her many things, except "how to block out the negativity."
"I'm just a sensitive s**t, okay!?" she wrote.
The star announced her departure via a string of nine consecutive Tweets that detailed her reasoning.
An hour after they were posted, her account went dark and all of her past Tweets were erased.
She used the platform to promote her many lifestyle products and cooking brand, and had 13.7 million followers before deactivating her account.
"It's time for me to say goodbye," she said. "I am honestly deeply bruised."
Users had opposite opinions about the stars' Tweets
Chrissy departed from Twitter twice last year
The enormous response from Twitter users has been all over the spectrum. While some applauded the model for standing up for herself, many users were happy to see the star go.
"Good riddance, glad she's gone from this space," said one of many who claimed her Tweets were tone-deaf, offensive, and entitled. Others showed screenshots of her past Tweets that seemed to belitte children, bully her staff, and spew criticism.
There were even claims from users that Chrissy had wanted thousands of her past controversial Tweets removed, and that she left only after Twitter refused.
Yet, many others said the company did not do enough to protect her against abuse.
"[A] classy woman harrassed," said one commenter. "She is awesome! Mean people suck," wrote another.
Chrissy has taken pauses from Twitter before. In May 2020, she left after being slammed by a fellow celebrity foodie, but returned after one day. She was also absent for over a week in October 2020 following her miscarriage with husband John Legend, which she publicly documented on the platform.
For now, her Instagram account has remained active with an even greater following of 34.3 million.
"She'll be back," said one user, who felt it was only a matter of time before Chrissy returned to her Tweeting.
