Christina Applegate shares new health diagnosis with fans
Los Angeles, California - Christina Applegate has revealed that she has been newly diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
On Tuesday, the Dead to Me star shared her news in a heartfelt Twitter post.
"Hi friends. A few months ago I was diagnosed with MS," she began in the tweet.
The 49-year-old continued, "It's been a strange journey. But I have been so supported by people that I know who also have this condition. But as we all know, the road keeps going. Unless some a**hole blocks it."
Besides the central nervous system-afflicting disease, the star has faced other serious health conditions in the past.
In 2008, Christina confirmed she was diagnosed with breast cancer. She successfully fought it after a double mastectomy, catching it in its early stages.
The Married with Children alum also revealed that she suffers from an inherited genetic trait, a BRCA1 mutation, which can cause a greater risk of developing cancer. It has caused the actor to navigate a long battle with insomnia and menopause.
She added in a follow-up tweet on Tuesday that she is asking for privacy as she continues to battle her new illness.
Christina isn't the first celebrity to bravely speak on their health prognosis recently.
Last week, Kathy Griffin revealed that was she was diagnosed with lung cancer, though she's never smoked a day in her life.
And most recently, Hugh Jackman updated fans on his latest biopsy results after his ongoing battle with skin cancer.
Christina hasn't confirmed whether she will continue to star on her critically-acclaimed Netflix dark comedy Dead to Me, which has earned her several prestigious acting nominations.
