Chris Rock drops trailer for live Netflix stand-up special one year after Oscars slap
Los Gatos, California - Over the holiday weekend, Netflix dropped the new trailer for an upcoming stand-up special from comedian Chris Rock that's expected to drop nearly one year after the infamous Oscars slap.
On Sunday, Rock shared the trailer for his new special called Chris Rock: Selective Outrage.
The stand-up special will be the first ever livestreamed comedy event on the streaming platform.
"We're thrilled the entire world will be able to experience a live Chris Rock comedy event and be a part of Netflix history," said Robbie Praw, Netflix's vice president of stand-up and comedy. "This will be an unforgettable moment, and we're so honored that Chris is carrying this torch."
It will also mark Rock's first special since 2018's Tamborine, and his first major one since being slapped at the 2022 Oscars.
Will Smith went on stage during the live taping of the Oscars and slapped Rock after the comedian made a joke about Smith's wife Jada Pinkett's shaved head.
The incident has caused damage to Smith's career, but also marked a pivotal moment for the 57-year-old, as he's remained relatively low-key since it occurred.
However, Rock has joked about the incident while touring with fellow comedian Dave Chappelle, hilariously saying, "Yeah, that sh*t hurt, motherf**ker, but I shook that sh*t off and went to work the next day… I don't go to the hospital for a paper cut."
Chris Rock: Selective Outrage is scheduled for release on Netflix on March 4, 2023.
