When it comes to politics, creating stand-out moments to rise above the noise and competition is key, especially if you're running against a household celebrity name like Caitlyn Jenner (71).

It's hard to fight the free publicity a former reality TV star gets, but California gubernatorial candidate John Cox is going all in on his Meet The Beast Bus Tour.

As a prop to drive his point home, Cox brought a 1,000-pound beast of a bear along for the ride.

In a video from his first stop in Sacramento on Tuesday with his bear friend in tow, Cox was seen taking the podium while his new campaign companion roamed in a closed area directly behind him.

The 65-year-old businessman and political activist is basing his campaign around the "beastly" changes that need to be done to bring California back to its glory days.

In an interview with the Times of San Diego, Cox said, "We need big, beastly changes to save it. I’ll cut taxes, make California more affordable."

The race for Governor of California came about after enough signatures were collected to force a recall election in an effort to remove the state's current democratic governor, Gavin Newsom.

According to FiveThirtyEight, Governor Newsom's supporters have 30 days to try and flip the petition's signees so there isn't enough signatures – diminishing the cries for a special election.
