Britney's ex-husband was part of the mob that stormed the US Capitol!

Washington D.C. - He became famous for being married to pop star Britney Spears for a grand total of 55 hours. Now Jason Alexander's name is once again trending for a less than positive reason.

The backlash after Wednesday's shocking scenes continues. After an angry mob invaded the US Congress headquarters, wreaking havoc and chaos, several people died and American politics is roiling like never before.

And according to multiple news outlets, including Insider, among that mob was a certain Jason Alexander, Britney's former childhood sweetheart and husband.

So far, however, it is still unclear whether the 39-year-old was only part of the wider rally or also participated in the violent break-in.

On his Facebook profile, Alexander shared a selfie of himself on Wednesday, wearing a red beanie with the number 45 – a reference to Donald Trump, the 45th president of the United States.

Along with the picture, he (falsely) claimed that "millions showed up" at the protest. He has since deleted the post.

Crude content on Facebook

Before he purged it of any potentially problematic content, Jason Alexander's Facebook timeline was full of posts about the so-called "March to Save America".

He shared a video on Monday, asking: "Where all my patriots I'm on the Trump train what will you tell your grandkids" in reference to the Washington DC protest.

Among other wild theories, Alexander also insinuated that Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg wants to protect pedophiles by fact checking posts, disputed the legitimacy of the presidential election results, and downplayed the coronavirus pandemic.

However, in the aftermath of the crackdown on those responsible for Wednesday's riots, Alexander's social media channels have gone eerily quiet.
