Britney has been on the front foot in this battle, ever she gave her revealing and heartbreaking court testimony.

On Thursday afternoon, TMZ reported that Jamie Spears' lawyer was filing legal documents with the Los Angeles Superior Court, stating that Jamie would step down from the conservatorship that has controlled Britney's life for over 13 years.

However, Jamie doesn't seem to be stepping down without throwing a dash of shade in every direction. According to TMZ, the documents start off by saying there are no grounds for his removal from the conservatorship, and that "it is highly debatable whether a change in conservator at this time would be in Ms. Spears' best interests."

Despite the initial resistance, the documents continue to say that Jamie, "Does not believe that a public battle with his daughter over his continuing service as her conservator would be in her best interests."

The document goes on to state Jamie's intention to work with the Court and Britney's legal counsel to prepare for an "orderly transition to a new conservator."

The documents also insist that Jamie essentially saved his daughter's life in a time when she was in deep emotional, mental, and financial distress.

The pop star's estranged father also alleges that he and his attorney were already working on his exit plan from the conservatorship with the 39-year-old's former court-appointed lawyer, Sam Ingram.

Despite the news of Jamie's sudden willingness to step down, her new representative, Mathew Rosengart, was unimpressed, telling TMZ, "We are pleased but not necessarily surprised that Mr. Spears and his lawyer finally recognize that he must be removed."

He and his client "look forward to continuing our vigorous investigation into the conduct of Mr. Spears, and others, over the past 13 years, while he reaped millions of dollars from his daughter's estate."
