"This is 2008 all over again," a source alarmingly told TMZ on Friday, referring to the singer's infamous breakdown back then, which eventually led to her being placed under the conservatorship of her dad, Jamie, for over 13 years.

Now, her situation is reportedly deteriorating again, with TMZ citing multiple insiders who say they've observed some serious substance abuse and mental health issues.

Plans to tackle the crisis with an intervention organized Britney's husband, Sam Asghari, apparently failed this week because of an unnamed "someone" who pulled the plug at the last minute. The pop star's loved ones and her manager are said to have rented out a house in Los Angeles, where discussions about her well-being were supposed to take place. The property was also earmarked for the 41-year-old's treatment and recovery.

But Britney isn't staying quiet throughout all this hubbub. Early on Friday, she put up an Instagram post with an inspirational quote, and seemingly denounced the reports in a lengthy caption.

"It makes me sick to my stomach that it’s even legal for people to make up stories that I almost died," Britney wrote. "I mean at some point enough is enough !!! I’m probably going to have to stop posting on Instagram because even though I enjoy doing it, there’s obviously a lot of people who don’t wish me well !!!"

She added: "No folks, it’s not 2007 … it’s 2023 and I’m making my first homemade lasagna at home !!! I finally got my fireplace to work in my living room !!! As my hubby says it best: don’t believe everything you read !!! All that love right back at ya !!!"

Speculation about Britney's wellbeing has been rife for months. Eyebrow-raising posts on Instagram and Twitter were nothing new, but a "mini freak-out" at an LA restaurant in January led many to wonder whether the artist was ok.

Shortly after the incident, she hit back in a post, saying: "I know the news is all hyped about me being a little drunk at a restaurant … it’s like they’ll be WATCHING MY EVERY MOVE."

Amid other denials that she was experiencing a breakdown, Britney also slammed fans who called the police for a wellness check after she briefly deleted her Instagram account.
