Bridgerton star Nicola Coughlan misses red carpet event after getting some bad news
London, UK- Bridgerton's Nicola Coughlan missed the season two red carpet premiere of her show after testing positive for Covid-19.
Ahead of season two's big Netflix premiere on Friday, most of the Bridgerton cast showed up at a red carpet event in their finest at Tate Modern in London, as reported on by The Cut.
But one of the show's most endearing stars was notably absent.
Nicola Coughlan (35), who plays, Penelope Fetheringtonin, missed the event after testing positive for the coronavirus.
She took to Instagram to announce the news and share her unique premiere look. "My Bridgerton Premiere look- a little different than expected."
In the posted picture, the self-described "Small Irish Acting Person" rocks a bold red lip, dazzling necklace, and is wrapped in a fluffy towel and cream bathrobe.
This is probably not the look she was planning on gracing the red carpet with at the premiere event, but her "infectious virus but make it fashion" look was definitely bold.
The Derry Girls actor shared her disappointment at missing the premiere event: "I’ve been struck down with Miss Rona and I’m missing our first premiere- heartbroken is an understatement but sending so much love to my gorgeous cast mates who I hope have the best night."
Some 90,000 people have liked her post, and friends and cast members have responded. Jonathan Van Ness, from Queer Eye and a friend of Nicola, wrote: "But you look f–ing hot tho."
Fellow cast mate and new bell of the ball, Charithra Chandran wrote "We’ll miss you so much my lovely." Charithra graced the red carpet at Tuesday's event with a short red and white dress with extremely long sleeves.
Season 2 of Bridgerton airs Friday, March 25.
