Los Angeles, California - Brendan Fraser's fans are not happy after the DC production Batgirl was shockingly axed, which means they won't see the actor appear as the movie's villain, Firefly.

On Tuesday, Warner Bros. announced that the already completed superhero film was scrapped.

Needless to say, many fans are outraged as the DC Extended Universe flick was set to be the first Batgirl-centered big screen project.

Fraser's dedicated fanbase is especially aggrieved, as the news somewhat puts the breaks on the "Brenaissance."

The Mummy star claims he was cruelly blacklisted in mid-2000s after he accused former president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Philip Berk, of sexual assault.

But recently, the 53-year-old has been making a comeback. He nabbed a few leading roles, such as his upcoming, potential Oscar-winning film, The Whale, and his portrayal as Robotman/Cliff Steele in HBO Max's Doom Patrol.

Batgirl would've been the next level in this rise, so the disappointment for his fans is great.

"The scrapping of batgirl is insane like brendan Fraser ??! Jk Simmons?????????? Michael Keaton???? And you just never let the movie see the light of day? HUHHHHH," one admirer tweeted.

Another user quipped, "Bro we really lost Brendan Fraser as a Batman villain?? This truly feels unreal."

With all the backlash surrounding the DC film's termination, maybe there's a chance we'll see it released in some form or another.
