Brad Pitt the sculptor: Star debuts new artwork at gallery in Finland
Tampere, Finland - Brad Pitt had a handful of his artwork displayed in a gallery for the first time over the weekend.
Aside from being an award-winning actor, producer, and even wine connoisseur, Pitt can now add sculptor to his list of roles.
The Bullet Train star's artwork was unveiled at the Sara Hilden Art Museum on Saturday. Works by singer Nick Cave and Thomas Houseago were also on display.
"Last night we celebrated our dear friend, Brad Pitt’s first art show and everyone was BLOWN AWAY," artist deBranne Treu shared in an Instagram story, as she documented the event. "To say his work is great is an understatement as he is a true artist creating out of extreme passion and drive."
Of the nine pieces on display, one showed several bullets crystallized in platinum silicon. Another was a large, bronze box, which resembled a coffin, that had multiple hands and feet attempting to break out from each side.
The artist also made several wooden "Candle Holders For Loved Ones" which he shared were "made in the time of Covid."
The work had some very eccentric titles, such as Buried Needs, Slave to Our Vices, and Self-Inflicted Gunshot Wound to the House.
Per The Art Newspaper, Pitt said "self reflection" motivated his new artistic streak. "It was born out of ownership over what I call a "radical inventory of the self." And getting really brutally honest with me and taking account of those I may have hurt and the moments I’ve just gotten wrong."
