Gen Z takeover! Billie and Timothée named among the Met Gala's youngest hosts ever
New York, New York - The Met Gala is one of fashion and Hollywood's most celebrated events. This year, the annual ball will make history as it is hosted for the first time by four trailblazers from Generation Z!
Billie Eilish, Timothée Chalamet, tennis player Naomi Osaka, and poet Amanda Gorman will co-host the Met Gala together.
The four young stars are each making strides in pop culture, and since the yearly event is all about celebrating all forms of art, the decision isn't far-fetched.
Eilish recently appeared on British Vogue magazine where the pop artist shredded her usual tomboyish apparel and showed off her stunning figure. The singer was a big winner at the 2020 Grammys, becoming the youngest musician to win four main categories, including Best New Artist. This year, she took home Record of The Year and at just 19, will become the youngest Met Gala host ever.
Chalamet (25) came onto the scene with his breakthrough performances in the films, Call Me By Your Name and Lady Bird. Since then, the in-demand star has become a cultural icon and is considered to be one of the best actors of his generation.
Gorman's (23) original poem, The Hill We Climb, which was performed at President Joe Biden's Inauguration, was arguably the highlight of the occasion.
The activist's moving poem launched her into stardom, landing her two book deals and a spot on Time magazine's 100 Next list.
Osaka (23) is a four-time Grand slam singles champion and was ranked number one by the Women's Tennis Association. The athlete is the first Asian player to hold the top ranking in singles and is also widely known for supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.
The Met Gala was canceled last year due to Covid-19 but is scheduled to take place on September 18. The theme of this year's annual event is In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.
