For Tisdale, her rhinoplasty 15 years ago was a "traumatic experience," she wrote. Contrary to popular belief, she didn't undergo surgery to change her appearance – there were "serious health issues" behind the decision. Speaking to People Magazine in 2007, she said she had trouble breathing because of a deviated septum.

"After several doctor’s visits about my health issues, they also suggested shaving my 'bump' down. I was young and didn’t put much thought into it, so I decided, why not?" Tisdale explained.

But the media caught wind of the procedure, and in next to no time, she was faced with a lot of public scrutiny.

"The hardest part was not the recovery but the media who constantly tried to paint a picture of me as someone who didn’t like their appearance," she said.

At the time, plastic surgery was still a taboo in Hollywood, Tisdale recalled, and she didn't want to make the procedure anyone else's business but her own.

"When I got it done I was scrutinized, judged, and made to feel ashamed over my decision," she wrote.

But even now that rhinoplasty is culturally accepted, the recent interviewer had her "confidence questioned yet again," she wrote. "There was just no place for that."

Last year, the Disney actor underwent breast surgery to have her implants removed. She's been "open and honest" about that procedure as well as her mental health, she said.

"It’s not easy being vulnerable and I felt like that was taken advantage of during this interview. I’m glad I have this platform where I can share my experiences and hope that you can learn something from them – including the negative aspects of plastic surgery," she wrote.

The 35-year-old expressed her dismay that the interview, which stirred up so many emotions, dug up the contentious subject of plastic surgery again. She had been given the impression that it was going to be about her pregnancy, since she announced in September 2020 that she and her husband, Christopher French( 39) are expecting their first child together.

Tisdale wrote that she hopes her child will never experience the same kind of judgement or shame in the future.
