Anna Faris opens up on the reasons for her divorce from Chris Pratt
Los Angeles, California – On the latest episode of her podcast, Anna Faris is Unqualified, Faris discussed her divorce from Chris Pratt in intimate detail for the first time, saying that competitiveness and lack of emotional honesty were driving forces that led the couple to split up.
Celebrity divorces can't be easy, especially when you're separating from someone whose entire public image has suddenly changed. That was the case with Chris Pratt and Anna Faris.
The couple had been married for nine years when Pratt shot to a new level of fame after getting buffed up for and starring in Guardians of the Galaxy.
The former star of the hit sitcom Mom took accountability for the lack of effort in easing the tensions in her marriage with Pratt.
In a relationship between two people in the same line of work, but with different levels of success, things can sometimes get testy and unhealthy competition can arise.
Such was the case with Faris and Pratt, as she mentioned in a discussion with Gwyneth Paltrow (48) on her podcast, saying, "Any hint of competitiveness and comparison – I didn't handle that well, I don't think".
Admitting that there was plenty of blame to go around for the breakdown wasn't easy for the 44-year-old, but she hopes she's outgrown her shortcomings and can approach things differently with her current fiancé.
Learning from past mistakes
In discussing their current relationships, Paltrow noted that her husband "demands that I am honest with myself in a way that is hard for me but which really helps me grow", something can Faris relate to when it comes to her fiancé cinematographer Mike Barrett (51).
"I'm engaged to a man who's demanded the same thing, which I had never had before," she said, highlighting the intense, direct eye contact and sense of accountability that Barrett favors – something she hadn't dealt with in her life before.
Although the two have moved onto new partners, Faris and Pratt seem to be on good terms as they continue to co-parent their son, Jack.
