Alec Baldwin breaks silence over fatal shooting of Halyna Hutchins
Santa Fe, New Mexico - Alec Baldwin has broken his silence after he accidentally shot and killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
On Friday, the actor spoke out via Twitter over the horrific death of the late 42-year-old cinematographer.
On Thursday, Halyna and director Joel Souza were both accidentally shot on the New Mexico set of Alec's film, Rust.
IndieWire confirmed that the actor unintentionally misfired a prop gun that struck the director and the cinematographer.
While Joel has been released from the hospital, Halyna tragically passed away from her injuries.
In a two-part statement, the actor tweeted his immense grief and remorse over Halyna's death.
"There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother and deeply admired colleague of ours," the 63-year-old wrote.
He continued, "I'm fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family. My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna."
Some celebs have since offered their support for the actor following the heartbreaking news.
Debra Messing slammed a tweet from a conservative commentator claiming the Beetlejuice alum killed a person and will be criminally investigated in the accidental shooting.
"It is absolutely NOT [true]. A prop gun was handed to him. He used it in the scene. Then- a catastrophic event happened where Halyna Hutchins lost her life and Joel Souza was injured. I am praying for all of their families," she wrote.
Alec's youngest brother, Stephen, asked fans for their prayers on Instagram.
"Asking for prayers tonight friends not much can be said other than please pray for all involved in the tragic in the wake of this tragic accident thank you," he wrote in a post with the caption #Psalm91.
