Alec Baldwin and Rust armorer charged in on-set death of Halyna Hutchins!
Santa Fe, New Mexico - Alec Baldwin will be charged with involuntary manslaughter over the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of Rust, the New Mexico District Attorney's office has said.
The 64-year-old star and the film's armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will each be charged with two counts of involuntary manslaughter over Hutchins' death on the film's Santa Fe County set.
Assistant director David Halls has signed a plea agreement for the charge of the negligent use of a deadly weapon, the DA's office said.
No charges will be filed specific to the non-fatal shooting of Rust director Joel Souza.
"After a thorough review of the evidence and the laws of the state of New Mexico, I have determined that there is sufficient evidence to file criminal charges against Alec Baldwin and other members of the Rust film crew," Santa Fe First Judicial District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said. "On my watch, no one is above the law, and everyone deserves justice."
Baldwin reached a settlement in the wrongful death lawsuit filed by Hutchins' family last October, and production on the film is set to restart sometime this month.
In November, the 30 Rock star filed a lawsuit against Gutierrez-Reed and other members of the Rust crew for negligence over the cinematographer's death.
Baldwin claims that he did not pull the trigger, despite the FBI confirming that the fatal accident would not have occurred without the trigger having been pulled.
