Afrobeats star Davido's three-year-old son passes away
Lagos, Nigeria - The son of one of Nigeria's most famous singers, Davido, tragically died in a heartbreaking drowning accident.
On Tuesday, Nigerian authorities confirmed that the Davido's 3-year-old boy, Ifeanyi, died at home. Reports say he drowned in the family pool.
Per ABC News, the Son of Mercy artist, whose real name is David Adeleke, and his partner Chioma Rowland weren't home at the time of incident that took place on Monday evening.
Authorities are currently interviewing eight of the Afrobeats star's employees who were at the Lagos residence.
"Domestic staff at Davido’s home have been taken to the station to give their own account of what happened. I wouldn’t call that arrest yet," Hundeyin said, per The Daily Post.
"If after they all give their own account of what happened and after preliminary investigations, if anyone of them is found culpable, the person will now be placed under arrest."
The horrific tragedy came one week after Ifeanyi's third birthday. On October 20, Davido honored his son's special day with a sweet tribute Instagram.
"I pray with all my heart that God grants you perfect health and pure happiness for as long as humanly possible. You will grow to be greater than Me , Happy birthday, son."
Rowland also celebrated her son in a separate post by calling him "love of my life."
"Mummy loves you so much, may God always bless you for me. God has been so faithful to us and I’m so grateful to be called your mummy. May you be greater than your parents in Jesus’ name, amen. Love you twin."
