A TikTok of Kendrick Lamar moving a security guard to tears is racking up views
Houston, Texas - A TikTok of a security guard weeping at a Kendrick Lamar show has now amassed over 11 million views, and the man at the center of it chimed in with his take on the viral moment.
Music is a powerful thing that can move people at any moment – even those working security at a live event.
That's what TikTok user Dejaih Smith witnessed while at a Kendrick Lamar show in Houston. In a video captioned, "Mans shoulda just bought a ticket," a security guard is seen getting rather emotional during Lamar's performance of the song Love off of his 2017 album, DAMN.
In a matter of days, the 10-second video has amassed over 11.2 million views and 2.9 million likes, with users chiming in to show love to this impassioned security guard.
"MY HEART the way music touches our souls in ways like this ugh I love this," one user wrote. Another added how genius this move actually is: "Why pay to go when you can get paid to be there."
The man at the center of the viral clip, Devyn Sanford, even dropped by the comment section to identify himself and add his two cents: "That’s me in the post y’all… this song means EVERYTHING to me and I was feeling everybody around me emotions…definitely love getting paid to do this."
Maybe Sanford has cracked the code in terms of saving on concert tickets as bots and service fees continue to make attending live shows less feasible. Plus, he's getting paid to see the music artists he loves – what's better than that?
