The biggest night in TV is shifting into high gear, as Hollywood gets set for an awards show that's finally back in full force.

Hosted by SNL's Kenan Thompson, the 74th annual Emmy Awards will air live on NBC on September 12. The show is being shoved to the Monday slot courtesy of Sunday Night Football on the network.

We're expecting a lot of laughs from the comedian, including the inevitable jokes in reference to this year's previous big awards show and the infamous Oscars slap. Hopefully, for the sake of everyone's safety, there won't be similar off-script shenanigans.

There's also the highly-anticipated red carpet fashion, which was toned down a notch at last year's mostly outdoor socially distanced ceremony due to Covid-19. Neon colors and retro '90s patterns should be commanding the spotlight this time around.

This year, a full audience will pack the inside the same venue as 2021 to crown the big winners, at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

Here are our picks and the most buzzed-about categories to watch.

2022 Emmy Awards: Predictions galore

The predictions are in, and most bets are on Succession and Ted Lasso to take home the 2022 Emmy Awards' top honors.

The must-watch category of the night is surely Outstanding Drama Series, which sees heavy hitters Euphoria, Succession, and Severance going up against fan favorites like Netflix's Squid Games and Stranger Things.

Succession is likely to bring home the bacon after winning the prize in 2020 and raking in 25 nominations, the most of any show. It also won Outstanding Casting for a Drama Series at the Creative Arts Emmys held last week, which has historically pointed to who will also win the Primetime Emmy award.

Outstanding Comedy Series is more of a toss up, with Ted Lasso again predicted to go two-in-a-row and take the title like last year. Still, we're pulling for the Selena Gomez-helmed Only Murders in the Building and the longstanding classic The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.

Speaking of two-in-a-row, our bets are on Zendaya to take home her second statue for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Clinching the award for Euphoria's first season, the 26-year-old's performance has been given even higher praise for season 2, as the series' popularity has exploded.

The Television Academy has announced that this year's presenters will include Amy Poehler, Kerry Washington, Kelly Clarkson, and former Emmys host Jimmy Kimmel.

Since you never know which other stars may show up, or what live performances could be in store, we'll be on the edge of our seats until this year's ceremony is fully underway.

The 2002 Emmys will air at 8 PM EST on NBC and are streaming live on Peacock.
