Covid tragedy: 11-year-old girl returns home to find both parents dead
St. Louis, Missouri - Tragedy struck a Missouri family when an 11-year-old schoolgirl found her lifeless parents in their bedroom shortly after the couple tested positive for Covid-19.
The St. Louis County Police confirmed that Erika and Scott Greenman were found dead on February 18, according to the Daily Mail.
Neighbors and friends recalled that Erika had previously rushed to the hospital with Covid-19 symptoms but was later discharged. In the meantime, her husband also tested positive, and they both quarantined in their basement bedroom.
Neighbors of the Greenmans explained to the local station KSDK that it was the couple's only child, who discovered them dead.
"To lose both parents at one time you know for an 11-year-old, it's really tragic," said neighbor Chuck Duy.
"Last year at Christmas time they came down to our door and gave us cookies. They were just the nicest people. We are praying for the girl and their family," he added.
Many friends and locals shared heartbreaking tributes on Facebook, saying goodbye to Erika and Scott Greenman.
"Please pray for my family. We lost my baby sister and her husband today. Such a sad day! I am gonna miss you soooo much. I love you!!" wrote Erika's sister, Anna Nance Bulliner.
"It doesn’t make sense why God would allow this horrible virus take you both on the same day. It doesn’t make sense why your beautiful baby girl lost both of her loving parents, why one of my closest friends lost her dear sister, or why our Firm lost two exceptional employees and friends. Our hearts are broken. Rest In Peace dear friends," a family friend wrote in another tear-jerking tribute.
