Woman uncovers huge bee hive – what happens next is un-bee-lievable!
Texas – Millions of viewers are shocked by the images: a young woman surrounded by hundreds of bees – with no suit or gloves!
The viral video shows her going about her business without a care in the world. The bees don't seem to be bugging her at all, and she doesn't show any fear of getting stung.
There's a good reason for that: Erika Thompson is a professional beekeeper. Besides producing honey, she has made it her mission to save bees.
On TikTok, she shares many short videos showing how she does it. Her customers call her when they have bee problems.
Erika is no exterminator – she simply relocates them to another place and saves hundreds of little lives in the process.
In one of her most popular videos, which already has over 58 million views, the blonde bravely flips up a wooden panel in a shed. Underneath are hundreds of bees!
But the beekeeper doesn't hesitate for a second: while others wouldn't dare approach the stinging creatures without protective suits on, Erika reaches into the bee colony with her bare hands.
Erika explains why she doesn't get stung
The beekeeper pulls out parts of the old hive and embeds them in a new one.
She relocates some of the little creatures with her bare hands until they begin moving of their own accord. After she relocates the queen bee to the new hive, the rest of the insects follow suit.
Erika leaves the site overnight. The following day, none of the bees can be found under the wooden board, and the beekeeper is able to transport the hive with its new inhabitants to a safe place away from humans.
Her video is an internet sensation, with many people wanting to know how Erika carried out the job without getting a single sting. It's simple: as long as she doesn't attack the bees, they won't attack her. Erika knows how to interpret their behavior.
In addition, she sprayed smoke at the beginning of the relocation, which is why all the bees went to the honeycomb to protect the honey.
They smoke sent their alarm bells ringing and they moved close together to the comb so that Erika was able to relocate large parts of the hive in a few steps.
