Unneighborly behavior: Man kidnaps horse and hides it in a very strange place
Mountain Rest, South Carolina - Horse theft is just the beginning of a list of bizarre charges against one man who was arrested in South Carolina on August 9.
He was spotted riding a horse down the street and then leading it into his home in the town of Mountain Rest.
Neighbors of 31-year-old Garry Chase Coble Jr. were stunned when they saw him bring his new pet into his house and immediately alerted the police. Coble had a history of theft, so the other residents of his neighborhood immediately suspected that he might have stolen the animal.
As soon as the officers arrived on the scene, they were greeted by a pile of horse manure on the living room floor, according to UNILAD.
The police had reached out to Coble's father, who verified that both Coble and the horse were not where they should be and came home immediately to assist.
When asked by his father to leave his bedroom, Coble resisted, but once the officers got in, they were greeted by the sight of a full-grown horse which had someone been smuggled into the room.
One of the investigators present later wrote in the police report, "It was at this time that I observed a full-size quarter horse standing in the middle of the bedroom."
Garry Chase Coble Jr. was no stranger to the police...
The animal named Jubilee seemed calm and unharmed at first – but when the owner arrived at the scene shortly afterwards, he noticed a small wound on the horse's ankle, which had not been there before.
The value of the horse is estimated at about $6,500 and it wasn't clear what Coble had intended to do with it.
Jubilee's owner decided to go forward and press charges for theft of livestock.
When the police pulled up Coble's records they realized he had a string of warrants to answer for including trespassing, burglary, larceny, and a note about a strange incident in which the man threw a mandolin into a neighbor’s field.
