Un-bee-lievable: man returns from shopping to find his car has been turned into a hive

Las Cruces, New Mexico - A force to "bee" reckoned with: when a man who went shopping in New Mexico came back to his car, he was suddenly confronted by thousands of angry little carjackers!

His head buzzing with shock at the thousands of bees that had invaded his vehicle, he struggled to figure out who to call.

As he didn't know any beekeepers around, he decided it was best to dial 911.

But fortunately for him, the firefighter who rushed to the scene also happened to be a beekeeper!

The man's car was invaded by a swarm of bees after he left his window down at an Albertson's grocery store on Sunday, March 28 in Las Cruces, the fire department explained on Facebook.

Apparently, he had even started to drive off before noticing the swarm in the backseat.

When the distressed man called, the department immediately knew who would get the job done: off-duty firefighter Jesse Johnson, who is also a part-time beekeeper.

"Johnson arrived with the proper tools for the trade – a hive kit, lemongrass oil, gloves and proper attire – and was successful in removing the bees from the car and relocating them to a more suitable location," said the Facebook post.

Johnson hit the honey jackpot and took the whopping 15,000 bees to his house outside the city.

The firefighters said Sunday's operation was unusual, but they had to act in light of the danger the 15,000 bees posed to the citizens.

"A security guard at Albertson's was stung and it is possible a few patrons may have had close encounters, but no major injuries were reported," the department wrote.
