Saturday on Interstate 285 near Dunwoody drivers had to do a double take when they realized a lone cow was galloping down the road ahead of them.

The roadway rodeo was recorded by drivers as they tried to work together to create a blockade to temporarily corral the animal. In the viral Twitter video, you can see drivers working in sync to prevent a catastrophe should the cow make its way into oncoming traffic.

Help came in the form of a local citizen who just happened to have a rope with him. Together with local officers, the stray was lassoed and returned to her owner, who was probably pretty surprised she was brought in by the law.

But how did she end up on the highway in the first place?

On Twitter, Dunwoody Police wrote that the poor cow had managed to fall off of a livestock trailer. Her owner will need to double-check his trailer doors after this!

The responding officers were praised on social media for not choosing to shoot the frightened animal, but instead taking the time to make sure she was safely captured without causing harm to herself or anyone on the highway with her.

No worse for wear, she's been returned safe and sound to her owner.
