Wildlife biologist and TV host Forrest Galante posted a video on his TikTok account in early March, teasing the audience, "I'll bet you $100 you didn’t find the gecko until I showed you."

Sure enough, the 32-year-old presented TikTok users with a well-camouflaged reptile on a tree trunk.

In the clip, Galante addresses his viewers directly, saying, "See, a lot of people don't realize that there's all kinds of wildlife right around us that you never even see. For instance, do you see anything right now?"

The video was shot in Madagascar. It's the only place where the leaf-tailed geckos can be found.

"After hours of staring at various tree trunks and likely missing dozens of them that were right in front of us, we were able to find a few different ones perfectly camouflaged into the forest foliage," Galante said, according to The Sun.

The expert continued, "Leaf-tailed geckos are incredibly fascinating cryptic species that always require a keen eye to find."

He was certainly able to convey that well to his audience in the TikTok video, which has been viewed by nearly 95,000 users since March 6.

Forrest Galante regularly posts videos of his work: "I am absolutely fascinated by the natural world and its inhabitants and try to use my social media to spread that same passion to all of my followers."

Though his gecko video was recorded a full three years ago, audiences loved the clip this time around too.
