This critter brought "owl" the boys to the yard – or in this case, inside the house!

Local animal control and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were alerted by residents who thought a creature may have become trapped in the flue of their wood-burning stove in Aberdeen.

The resident of the house heard suspicious noises and reportedly thought a hawk may be stuck inside, according to the BBC.

As first responders arrived, rescuing the bird proved more difficult than anticipated, as it was too large to fit through the stove's door flap.

"This was quite a tricky rescue and when I first arrived, all I could see were the bird's feet and some feathers sticking out of the wood burner," said Scottish SPCA animal rescue officer Lynn Cruickshank.

"I couldn't get them past the damper at the top of the stove," she explained.

The group then realized that the bird was a tawny owl!

Responders eventually had to break the seal and remove the entire stove to get the animal out.

"Thankfully, the owl was unharmed from the adventure," she said.

The bird was examined and given some food and water before being released back into the wild.

Fortunately, the owl sustained no injuries and was quickly released back into the wild.

All seems well again – although the resident may need a new stove.
