Incredibly rare animal sighting makes a big splash in Wales!
Pembrokeshire, UK - Goo goo g' joob! A rare walrus sighting in Wales is exciting animal welfare enthusiasts.
A walrus emerged from the Arctic and landed on the coast of Wales over the weekend.
"This is an incredibly rare sighting and these big, beautiful animals never usually venture so far south," Ellie West of the RSPCA animal welfare organization told the PA news agency.
The organization examined the animal – apart from a few scratches, it is said to be healthy, if slightly underweight.
A few days prior, walkers in County Kerry on the west coast of Ireland observed a walrus on a boulder.
Biologists assume it is the same animal – possibly washed up on an iceberg.
"The juvenile walrus has likely travelled down this way in search of food," West speculated.
