Veterans Day: Viral TikTok serves up a sleepy service dog
Oso has been a faithful companion as a service dog to a disabled Army veteran. And an amusing viral video making the rounds just in time for Veterans Day shows his dedication to the job.
Oso has wowed on his TikTok and Instagram accounts, which seek to raise awareness for those who need extra assistance from a canine companion.
Yet, a recent video has given users something to chuckle about, and has gone viral with 2.6 million views on TikTok and counting.
In it, Oso is seen snoozing on the floor, taking an unexpected nap.
When you "fall asleep and lose your human," the clip says.
Suddenly, Oso wakes up and realizes his faux pas. Panicked, the pup opens his eyes, frantically stands up, and searches for his owner.
"You got one job Oso and you fell asleep during workout. Do better!" his owner Rob captioned the clip, with a crying smiley emoji. The veteran later explained to a TikTok user that he had been at the gym along with other fellow veterans.
Users loved the moment, with many commenting that the dog's dedication showed "beautiful loyalty and devotion" during the hilarious hiccup.
"I left the hooman right there! Aww maaann imma gonna get fired for this," a TikToker joked of Oso's train of thought.
Service dogs are essential for some veterans with disabilities
Rob has shed some light on the job of service dogs, and how they have given new life to vets after serving in the military.
"He provides tasks for me to assist me with my permanent disability," Rob explained, saying the pooch went through heavy training, and does not simply provide emotional support.
"There's a whole community of people that depend on these dogs, especially in the veteran community. For some of us, these dogs have saved our lives more than once."
Especially on Veterans Day, fans all over the internet are coming together to celebrate the pup, who Rob calls "my ride or die" and "unconditional love."
"We don’t deserve these four-legged [friends]," he added. "Their hearts are pure."
