One dog takes adorable steps to trusting its baby brother in viral TikTok

Ontario, Canada - The first meetings between baby Milton and dog Luna did not go as hoped. Unlike many dogs, this particular four-legged pal was a bit reserved when it came to meeting the tiny tot. But last month, one TikTok user published a video to set an example for the besties in training.

The internet is bustling with clips of doggos getting overly excited when introduced to new infant bundles of joy.

Then, there are clips like one shared by a Canadian woman named Ashley Hurst who showcased her six-month-old son Milton and her seven-year-old pup Luna in the midst of a rather awkward – albeit typical – encounter.

The baby and the family's four-legged friend are seen sitting on the floor near one another, and as soon as Milton touches Luna's paw very gently, she pulls it away, startled.

Shortly after, the pup licks the infant's hand, then looks to the side with immense irritation while the little boy looks down.

Commenting on the video, mom Ashley wrote: "I don't have a dog, I have a Luna. She was my baby for six years before I had Milton. She had to get used to Milton being on her level now. But she's making friends with him more and more every day. They're just learning to trust each other – and it's beautiful to watch."

The 26-year-old hit a nerve with this statement. Of the one million people who have since watched the viral vid, more than 117,000 gave it a like, and many sounded off about how moved they were by it all.

Relationship between Luna and Milton is said to be slowly improving

Speaking to Newsweek, Ashley now explained, "Our dog was pretty scared of Milton, since she's never been around other babies."

Still, it warms her heart to see the two of them, because, "Luna was my first baby, she's been with me my whole young life. She's moved with me many times and been by my side as I've grown up and started to make my own way in the world."

Finally, she says the pair's relationship is better now, "Seeing her pick up and love Milton, even if she does it at her own pace, is incredible. I think as they get more used to each other, they'll have a great relationship."

Here's to hoping the two become lifelong pals in due time!
