TikTok user Olives Odyssey struck viral gold with a video of the adorable friendship between an old Labrador named Roxy and a golden retriever puppy called Olive.

Roxy is 15 years old and clearly showing her age, but the puppy doesn't stop pestering the old dog until she plays with her. The montage shows them becoming best buds in no time.

The story has a bittersweet ending, as the captions confirm that Roxy is no longer with us. The pooch pair only had one year together, but it was "that much happier."

Sometimes elderly animals have no interest in or patience for young, energetic youngsters coming into their home.

Per Newsweek, bringing a pup into a senior dog's home can stress them out and even make them depressed.

But that doesn't have to be the case, and it wasn't the case for Roxy and Olive.

According to an Instagram post by Olive's owner, introducing the two "truly revitalized [Roxy]. It was a beautiful bond to watch blossom. We all miss her every day."

The animal experts at Pet Place confirm that message: "In some ways, it makes sense to get an older dog a new puppy. Puppies can keep older dogs company, help them stay active, keep their minds alert and even increase their life expectancy."

It's clear that friendship knows no age!
