Labskies: This Labrador and husky mix is ready to be your next best friend
Canada - Meet the labsky, an adorable mix between a Siberian husky and a Labrador retriever!
It's unclear when the first labskies appeared. Both parent breeds have roots in Canada, so it's quite possible huskies and labs chose to mix rather than just leaving it to breeders.
When huskies and labs cross, the puppies can have varied appearances.
Labskies, also called huskadors, are colorful surprises. If they have pointed ears and blue eyes, it can be difficult to distinguish them from purebred huskies. If they have floppy ears and dark fur, labskies can be mistaken for Labradors.
But there are also plenty of in-betweens, like Bodie the labsky from Toronto, Canada, who combines the blue eyes of his husky parent with the floppy ears of a Labrador.
Milo and Maya from Germany, on the other hand, don't show many husky-like qualities, but they still don't look like purebred Labradors either.
Labskies are not easy to find
You may not be able to predict how labsky puppies will look, but there are several things you can count on.
This crossbreed is considered friendly and social. The dogs tend to be very people-oriented.
But this strength can turn into a weakness: if labskies are left alone for a long time, they can start to show signs of temper.
That's why it's best to get a labsky only if you are able to give it the attention and playtime it deserves.
If your heart is set on bringing a labsky into your home, you may have to be patient, as they tend to be a rare mix.
