Husky gets late night rescue as TikTok gets in on the chase
USA - One dog's fate touched millions of viewers on TikTok as a woman rescued a stray husky in the middle of the night.
A TikToker named Alex posted her very first video on the platform, and it immediately went viral, having been viewed over 5.4 million times.
In the clip, Alex has a first encounter with a well-behaved and eager animal.
"POV: You find a stray husky at 1 AM," she captioned the post. "Can't believe I almost hit him on the way home."
What could have been an accident, however, became a touching rescue operation.
The flight attendant and animal lover opened her car door and invited the husky to sit in the passenger seat. The four-legged friend gladly accepted the invitation.
Alex brought the husky home, where she gave it something to eat and drink. Then, she cleaned him up and let him play with a few toys. The pup had a warm and cozy place to sleep for the night.
The TikTok clip of the heartwarming rescue took off in popularity, with viewers wondering what happened to the husky. An update gave TikTokers their wish.
Husky ends up with his old owners, but is he in good hands there?
In two follow-up videos, Alex explained what happened to the pooch after their night together.
First, Alex took him outside the next morning so that he could go to the bathroom - but he used the opportunity to immediately run away!
Although the dog had previously been staying by Alex's side, she could not catch him as he ran off. He was later taken in by security guards and brought to a nearby animal shelter.
There, the husky's owners were found and contacted via the pup's microchip. Yet, Alex said that when the husky's owners came to pick him up, "they didn't seem happy to see him at all."
Animal shelter employees then explained to the owners that the dog could also be placed elsewhere if they wished.
Now, the husky is back with his owners, and the case is seemingly closed.
"He's safe. He's home ... I was just trying to do a good deed and that's all," Alex finished.
TikTokers are still praising her for the late night rescue. As one wrote, "Thank u so much for what you have done. Queen!"
Dog lovers wholeheartedly agree.
