Grieving dog buries his dead friend in a heartbreaking video
Samut Prakan, Thailand - A powerful bond between animals brought one dog to help dig his fellow pet's grave in a heart-wrenching video.
Sirintha Surthong captured the incredible moment when her dog helped shovel dirt onto the grave of his furry friend.
When her dog Taohoo passed away in January after bring sick for weeks, the Thai family had a backyard funeral for him.
But just as they were finishing laying him to rest, their other dog Samlee lent a helping paw in the most heartbreaking manner.
In the clip, the dog does his best to help cover the body of his departed buddy.
The family had had Taohoo as a pet for nine years and the two doggy siblings grew up together.
Samlee's owner said she held back tears after seeing how devoted he remained to his best pal.
"My dog Samlee appeared to be heartbroken that his friend was gone. My pets are all very close as they play with each other every day," she told LiveLeak.
Sirintha said that her dog continued to help bury Taohoo and remained by the graveside for two hours before returning to the house. He later laid in a corner and didn't eat for the rest of the day.
"It was like he was grieving," Sirintha said.
Samlee is joined by another dog in the video, who also helps him to move dirt onto the grave with his nose. At the end of the clip, they can be heard whimpering.
"My dog is very smart and understands emotions," the pet owner said. "They're like real people to me. They're family members."
