Dog's bright blue tongue mystery serves a silly chilly treat
Beware of leaving your puppy alone - you never know what mischief they can get up to!
When Mom's away, the dogs will stray!
Rhonda Meeks just wanted to buy a bottle of water, and left her pup Lily in the car while she ran into the store.
When she returned minutes later, she couldn't believe her eyes: the Golden Retriever suddenly had a blue tongue!
After some initial confusion, Meeks quickly realized that her dog had eaten a blue Icee that she had left open in the car.
The sweet treat had been left in the cup holder, right in front of the dog's nose, and of course, the animal couldn't resist.
The amusing moment was captured on an Instagram account, which now affectionately deems her "Lily Aka Iciee Dog."
Making the scenario even funnier, Meeks told The Dodo that the now seven-month-old played off her naughty behavior like nothing had happened.
"When I got in the car, she didn’t look at me at first," the owner said. "She just looked out the window."
That the four-legged-friend acted so innocent only made Lily's chilly tongue more hilarious.
Dog gets a blue tongue – and a matching name on Instagram
Meeks has a simple explanation for Lily's licking: "She absolutely loves loves loves ice."
"Any time any of us goes to the refrigerator, she jumps up and runs to it," the pet owner added.
Ice cubes are actually known as a useful training tool for pups, as most tend to love to eat – and sometimes play with – the ultra-cold cubes.
Lily has captivated fans everywhere with her tongue's blue hue, despite her IG account now returning to posting photos of her happily sporting her regular-colored tongue.
