Dog waiting to see the vet is cool as a cucumber in funny viral video
Federal Way, Washington - Fear of the vet? Pup Akira never heard of it!
On the contrary, whenever the young Golden Retriever goes into the office for a checkup, she's as cool as a cucumber.
Especially when her owner sets her up with a phone on a chair – where she can watch one of her all-time favorite squirrel videos.
When Mel Cies, manager of the VCA Panther Lake Animal Hospital, recently spotted the dog calmly watching her show on the tiny screen in the waiting room, she captured the moment on video and shared it on the clinic's Instagram page.
"Never in my seven years working in the vet industry as a hospital manager have I seen a dog so calm at the vet!" Cies told The Dodo.
"It was so amazing!"
Golden retriever Akira is a big fan of squirrels – and videos
Darin Beam, the owner of four-year-old Akira, told the outlet that he quickly noticed that his dog loved watching squirrels in the family garden.
He then put a video of the little critters in front of her one day - and found that it was a great way to entertain the four-legged friend and quell any puppy anxiety.
"If we ever need her to stay still, we show her a squirrel video," Beam said.
The video of Akira in the waiting room has been liked over 139,000 times and counting.
"Too adorable," one commenter wrote. "She can't miss her episodes!"
